Important Information:
-Your lesson will never have more than 3 people in it and sometimes there may be less. If you request a private lesson there is an additional charge.
-We require our students to take an 8 session introductory course. This just gives you a basic foundation and the in's and out's of our program.
-After the introductory course you may sign up for lessons on an individual basis.
-Your first lesson in the introductory program will be un-mounted. You will meet the horses and work around them, but will be learning safety on the ground.
-We require all parents to attend the first introductory course with their children to ensure that everyone knows what to expect from our program.
-Safety is our top priority here. We require our students to wear long pants and boots with at least a 1/2" solid heel when mounted. We also require they wear properly fitted ASTM-SEI certified helmets when mounted. We will provide helmets initally but ask that your purchase your own if you are going to be a regular in our program.
-Out of respect for our horses we have a 200lb. weight limit.
-Your lesson starts when you catch your horse. Some weeks you may spend a full hour riding, some more, some less. This depends on the number of people riding in your lesson, as well as the amount of time spent getting ready.
- If you are interested in riding but are not sure that it is something you are serious about or are going to enjoy we offer a one time "visit". You get to come out, see the horses, get a feel for what our program is all about and ride a horse. (We will lead you around on one of our school horses). If after this you are still interested then you may sign up for one of the introductory courses.
-We will teach children of any ages. The younger (under 6) children will spend more time on the ground working around the horses and ponies. Their lessons are done on a one-on-one basis to ensure their safety, and are shorter due to their shorter attention spans.
-We request that the parents of children under age 6 stay with their child during their lesson. Parents of older children may drop their child off and return at a predetermined time to collect them, after their first sesson in the introductory program.
-There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. We will offer one make-up class for each introductory program. Once your are out of the introductory program and you cancel your lesson 24 hours in advance then there is no charge. If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance or fail to show up then you are responsible for payment for that lesson.
- If it rains on the day of your lesson please contact your instructor to find out if your lesson is cancelled. If it is cancelled we will do our best to schedule a make up later in the week. If a make up can't be scheduled you will resume lessons at your scheduled time the following week. You are not responsible for payment of lessons cancelled due to inclimate weather.
- We offer one day summer "camps" for students. They are one day at a time, for a few weeks in the summer. We will do a mounted riding lesson, an unmounted riding lesson, lunch, fun activity, as well as some form of barn "chore".
-Once you become a regular in our program you have the opportunity to attend local horse shows and compete against students from other programs at the same level as you. This is not required of our students but we encourage you to attend if you are interested.
